Beautiful Headdress - Indian on Horse Statue ARRIVES LATE MAY
Note how the headdress is so long it reaches the horse's back. Quite beautiful.
The horse is beautiful too. It is at full gallop. The Native American and horse are a unit as they head to fight. A long spear is in the Indian's right hand. The statue is made of resin and hand painted. It captures this moment in time. A sad time, when the Indian had to defend his land, his livelihood.
How was a headdress made? It's quite interesting. To make a headdress, one single feather would be added to the band each time that the recipient committed an act of bravery. The process of making the headdress itself shows the great significance that the headdress has in the Native American culture. For a headdress as long as shown on this statue...this Native American is a VERY brave man. It took years for him to earn all of these feathers.
