How to Customize with a Plaque

A plaque is the perfect way to customize many items. This informational page will help you make your decisions when ordering a plaque. You will receive the plaque mailed separately.

There are two things that determine how long your plaque should be. #1 length of base #2 amount of text.

#1 base. If a base is 5 inches long, you need to allow 1/2 inch of space on each end of the plaque. Thus, for a 5 inch base the MAXIMUM length of a plaque is 4 inches. You don't want the plaque to go to the end. Sometimes the edge of the base has a beveled edge. If the base is 12 inches long, deduct 1/2 inch for each end with the beveled edge and the MAXIMUM length of a plaque is 11 inches. So that's maximum length. Now you know how long the plaque COULD be. Please keep reading.

#2 text. If you want one word of text, let's say AWESOME - the length of the plaque would be different than if the plaque had 25 words. Let's say you are putting AWESOME on a bull sculpture that could have a plaque 16 inches long. The customization would be lost on such a long plaque. We would do a plaque around 3 or 4 inches. 

Height of Plaque

There are two things that determine how high the plaque should be. #1 height of base #2 amount of text.

1 base. The plaque needs to be AT LEAST 1/8 inch less on the top and on the bottom. That means that if the base is one inch high, the plaque can be 3/4 inch high. The 1/4 inch is a constant no matter the height.

2 text. If you calculated the MAXIMUM height of the plaque as 1/2 or less, then you can have ONE line of text. If the calculated height is 5/8 inch, you can have TWO lines of text. If the calculated height is 3/4 inch. According to height of base you can have 1 or more lines of text. Some bases are tall and can have several lines of text. But, the more lines of text, the smaller the font.

The engraver will determine the size of plaque based on your personalization request. The above info is to help you decide how much text you CAN have. You can have less.

Color of Plate

You have a choice 5 colors of plaque.

We recommend that you select the color of plaque that blends with the color of the base. Thus, a black base would have a black plaque. The reason that we make this recommendation is that we believe it is better to have the text "pop" versus having the entire plaque "pop". If you do not select a plaque color, the default choice is the color that we believe blends best. 

Sometimes if the sculpture is silver customers like a silver plaque.  Or, a copper plaque with a copper statue. The default will not do this - it will blend with base. It's your choice as to what works best for you.

Some bases are not flat and we need to use a FLEXIBLE plate. We only have FLEXIBLE plates in gold or black.

Font for Plaque

You have a choice of TEN different font. If there is quite a bit of text, we recommend Arial or Times Roman font because it is crisper and easier to read. Our default text is Arial. If you want the text to be the boldest possible, select Copperplate. It works well with a name or limited text. You can use a font that is script but with limited text. You have a calligraphy choice. You have a whimsical choice. Please select the font you prefer. We do have thousands of fonts, way too many to list here, so if you have a font that is your company's font - ask us in the TALK to US box to use that font. We will do so if possible. For each plaque only ONE font is possible. On the web site, type in the text you want and you can then change the font and see which of the 10 choices you prefer.

Text for Plaque

If the text is simple, like a person's name, please enter your request on line.

If the text is more than one line - or somewhat complicated, please enter in TALK TO US box "Emailing customization request". Then do the text in Word exactly as you want it. Centered? Left justified? Line by line. Email your instructions to service@wallstreetgifts.com. Once you place your order, you will receive an email with your order #. Logo

Yes, we can do a logo if there is enough room to do so on the plaque. Logo needs to be emailed to us as a jpg file in the correct size for the plaque. There is an additional $20 charge for a logo. We can use color in your logo.

We used the same font in this example. We used BOLD for the name. We left the center line "normal". We used itallic for the bottom ling. Same font. You can see we centered the text. You could specify this on your Word document you email us.

Approval of Plaque

If you want to approve the plaque before it is made, please say "send proof" State this on the text request you emailed to us.

Adhering a Plaque

You will need to adhere this plaque to the statue base. You will receive two shipments #1 statue via UPS or FEDEX #2 plaque via USPS. The plaque is mailed from Florida.

How do you adhere an plaque? It's like putting on a band-aid - very simple. The most difficult part is to center the plaque - but you can measure it and it becomes quite easy to do. The plaque has strips along the back of the plaque. Once the plaque is adhered it is extremely difficult to remove.
