Knights arrived in England with William the Conqueror in the Norman Conquest of 1066. The knights wore armor, carried long shields and wore conical helmets with nose-guards. They usually fought from horseback. The armor of both the knight and his horse was custom made. The knights armor could weigh 60 lbs.
