This marine is definitely an "action" figure. Very well sculpted with lots of detail. The body is made of resin and has a bronze finish. The wooden rectangular base can be personalized with a plaque. Maximum size of plaque 4 x 1 inch.

The marines have been a component of the Navy since 1834. In the beginning the Marines were ground forces who served aboard naval ships. Interesting statistics: 49 marines where killed in the Revolutionary Was, 148 in the Civil War, practically 20,000 in WW II, 13,000 in Vietnam and 853 in Irag.
