This Husky Puppy Statue represents the Siberian Husky dog breed. The Husky originated in Siberia, bred by the Chukchi people for sled pulling, and companionship. The Husky is an active, energetic, resilient breed, whose ancestors lived in the extremely cold and harsh environment of the Siberian Arctic. William Goosak, a Russian fur trader, introduced them to Nome, Alaska during the Nome Gold Rush. Today, the Siberian Husky is typically kept as a house pet in addition to its role as a sled dog.
I was curious who the Chukchi people were, never heard of them. They are prehistoric! with only 16,000 still remaining.
This dog statue is made of resin and hand painted to create this realistic looking Husky. It is a puppy, not an adult.
U Conn won March Madness for the 5th time in 2023. Their mascot is the Husky. My alma mater, University of Washington also has the Husky as its mascot. The Husky can live in horrible weather conditions - is strong with a good temperment. A good mascot!
