This turtle statue is truly a work of art. I get mesermized as I look at it. The turtle is created by mouth blowing with a mixture of glass colors. Each turtle is similar, but different. The shell looks translucent - simply gorgeous. You can see through the golden brown legs and head. This turtle looks like it could have been created in Murano - it wasn't - just looks like it. Turtle weighs 12 lbs.

Size is good too....over 12 inches long....

The shell of a turtle is unique and serves to protect the animal and provide shelter from the elements. It is primarily made of bone. The outer surface of the shell is made of keratin...same substance that makes up human hair and fingernails.
